Meet James M Houston, PA-C
James Michael Houston, Sr. is a native of Newark, NJ, a father to seven sons, and grand father of six grandchildren, 5 girls and 1 boy. A proud combat military veteran of the US Navy, where he served honorably as a Hospital Corpsman Second Class Petty Officer.
After completing his Undergraduate studies at Seton Hall University with a BS Biology and his Graduate studies at University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey with a Masters of Science in Physician Assistant Studies he reunited with the military this time as a Commissioned Officer in the US Army, where he served as a First Lieutenant and served as the Assistant Flight Surgeon for the 1/158th Apache Squadron.
James Houston is a man of Faith and attends Resurrection Baptist Church lead by Pastor Ray Brown, Redland Oaks Campus, who’s guided by Minister Rod Mosley, where he serves as part of the security and mens ministry.
Mr. Houston was the Director of Clinical Operations for a major Bariatric Surgical practice in San Antonio, where his duties included preparing patients for surgery, assisting in surgery and directing patients through a non-surgical weight loss program to achieve their health goals.
Noble Houston serves on the board of the World LoLei foundation and donates his time as part of their public relations team. Past Master of San Antonio Lodge No. 1, PHA, where he serves in various capacities as needed. He is also an active participant and former scholarship chair for Moussa Temple No. 106, AEAONMS. Also, a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., where he served as the Guide Right and Kappa Leadership League chairperson for the Englewood/Teaneck Alumni Chapter for several years.
An avid motorcyclist and enjoys his time on his Harley Davidson Road Glide, who he has affectionately named Mary Jane. He also enjoys sports, his favorite teams being the NY Yankees and Mets, New York Knicks and Pittsburgh Steelers.
James’ desire to help children, especially male children, stems from his upbringing in the rough streets of Newark, NJ. He wants to ensure that young men, especially those of color, realize that they have royal blood ties and should govern them selves as Kings and not Thugs. Seeing first hand the devastation that fatherlessness, illicit drugs and violence can do to the psyche of a child in his friends growing up, he started to want to help and reverse the death of the family unit and the precious young black male fruit of the society. To this end, PM Houston, volunteers to speak and mentor young men both at risk and of influence for all young men need a mentor or role model.
Mr. Houston’s favorite quote is a poem by D. L. Lawerence entitled Self Pity, I have never seen a wild thing feel sorry for itself, a bird will fall frozen dead on the bough without ever once feeling sorry for itself. He says that upon learning this poem, it has taught him that when things get tough, which they inevitably will, that self pity is a waste of time and energy, but re-evaluation, re-direction, and action are better choices for your time and energy.
When asked why he pushes so hard and does so much, Mr. Houston smiles and says, my desire is to ensure that my children start with a legacy to be proud of and one for them to continue and not start from nothing and also, a man’s days are short and I plan to prayerfully make it to heaven one day, but want to be worn and weathered from living life to the fullest!
