Evaluation
The first step in understanding and identifying your discomfort is to undergo a one-on-one medical evaluation with one of our seasoned healthcare professionals. During this appointment, we will take our time to carefully listen to all of your concerns and will ask questions about the type of pain and symptoms you are experiencing. We will perform a physical examination and may gently conduct a few exercises to better understand the level of your pain and limitations of mobility. In addition, you should be prepared to share your complete medical history to help us to gain insight into your overall health and genetic risk factors. Personal medical evaluations provide essential information in building your custom treatment plan and determining what therapies may work best for you.
Pain Mapping
Pain mapping is a technique that uses a specialized needle and gentle electrical signal to identify the type, level, and location of a patient's discomfort. During this assessment, the handheld device is placed near the spinal column under live x-ray (fluoroscopy) as an electrical signal is sent to the localized nerves. This test can be performed on the cervical (neck), thoracic (shoulders and mid-back), lumbar (low back), and sacral (lowest section of the spine) portions of the back. Patients generally do not experience any abnormal discomfort during this procedure since the electrical signals create a mild tingling sensation in the body. Patients are asked to identify where they feel these sensations (arms, chest, leg, foot) and if it is the usual location of their pain. If it's the same, then it is classified as concordant pain reproduction and the pain site is accurately spotted.
Types of Treatments
Our team will draw up an individualized pain chart that includes a checklist of the problem sites that were discovered during the pain mapping process. This, in turn, helps us to properly diagnose and treat your specific type of discomfort to bring the relief you need. We offer a variety of pain management treatments, including:
