As a civilian, she has worked in various nursing capacities, including ICU, dialysis, home health, clinical coordinator, and educator.

Dedicated to a holistic approach, Shavon integrates traditional medicine with alternative therapies to cater to her patient's individual needs. Her belief in the mind-body-spirit connection shapes her comprehensive care philosophy. Her career spans family practice, primary care, military medicine, rheumatology, pain management, and substance use disorders. Shavon was the first mid-level provider in her area to obtain a DEA waiver for buprenorphine treatment. She is also committed to community service, providing health and sports physicals for local organizations, schools, and Special Olympics athletes.

A passionate educator, Shavon mentors and precepts family medicine residents, mid-level providers, and nursing students. In 2022, she fulfilled her goal of becoming an adjunct faculty member for a nurse practitioner program. Her DNP project was reviewed and implemented by physicians in clinical practice, and she continues to pursue opportunities in research and publication. Outside of her professional life, Shavon enjoys spending time with her three children, traveling for their athletic and artistic pursuits, and engaging in her hobbies of reading, writing, painting, and playing the piano.
