Dr-Murphy

Meet C. William Murphy, M.D.

Dr. Bill Murphy is Double Board Certified in Anesthesiology and in Pain Management. He is a founding partner of two different pain management groups in South Texas, Consultants in Pain Medicine and later Hill Country Pain Associates. He serves on various boards, a member of multiple professional organizations, and has been instrumental in establishing pain management clinics and surgery centers from San Antonio to the Hill Country.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING

Dr. Murphy is a San Antonio native and graduated from Lee High School in 1971 before moving up I-35 to attend the University of Texas at Austin. He graduated as a proud Longhorn with a degree in Pharmacy and worked as a Pharmacist while attending Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. Upon graduation in 1980 with an MD degree, he moved back to San Antonio for an internship in Internal Medicine and later Specialty training in Anesthesiology with Board Certification in 1986. Dr. Murphy was one of the first to become Board Certified in Pain Management when it became a specialty a few years later. Five years ago, he completed a Fellowship in Aesthetics through the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine. In August of 2020, he merged Hill Country Pain into the growing pain group Tricity Pain Associates. He feels he is now part of growing a pain management group to bring pain relief to more people, in more places, with better quality and more choices than ever before. His goal is to learn something new every day to make life better for his patients, their families, and his colleagues. He has been in private practice in San Antonio since 1983.

PERSONAL

Dr. Murphy has been married to his high school sweetheart, Tisa, since 1974. They have three adult children and seven “perfect” grandchildren. Dr. Murphy loves outdoor activities; he loves golf, exercise and fitness, gardening, travel, and spending time with his wife and family. He founded Turquoise Springs Medical Spa 6 years ago, and loves practicing aesthetics and serving as its medical director. Dr. Murphy has always believed practicing medicine is a blessing and helping patients is not a job, it is a privilege. He penned the mantra for one of the practices he founded several years ago, "Relieving Pain; Restoring Hope". This is still the philosophy that is the basis for every decision he and his staff make for their patients.

Patient Reviews

The office staff is always kind and polite. That care about how you feel. I'm gonna miss my PA with Dr. Murphy due to that they are moving their office to another location, but it will be closer to me I hope. I come to the San Antonio office from New Braunfels. I'm sure glad Dr. Murphy took me back as a patient when I moved back from Louisiana there are not any doctors like him out there like him. Thank Tricity Pain associates for your service to help me heal my pain.

I have been a patient of Dr. Murphys for many years. He has helped me so much with my chronic pain issues so I could have as normal a life as possible. Now I mostly see Nancy for my monthly visits and I couldn't ask for a better PA. I actually look forward each month to my visit. They have gotten to be almost like family. So thankful to have found them.

I've been a patient of Dr Bill Murphy more than 15 years. He is caring, as well as very direct in his treatment. Nancy Turnbull, PA, is wonderful. I was thrilled when she returned to San Antonio and working with Dr Murphy once again. Practice changes, after merger with TriCity, created difficult adjustment hurdles in area of phones and confirmation systems. Thankfully, Dr Murphy and Nancy Turnbull remain their excellent, patient oriented selves.
